“Success isn’t always about ‘greatness’. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work gains success. Greatness will come.” -Dwayne Johnson

Patrick and Amber Nolan both were involved in sports throughout their school years. Pat joined his college rugby team and Amber attended college on a volleyball scholarship. The couple points to the lifelong lessons they learned through sports and attribute a portion of their current success to their past athletic experience.

Shared principles in different arenas.

Athletics rely on teamwork, competition, drive and perseverance. All four of those elements similarly lead to success in the business world. Prioritizing your health also requires discipline – the same type of discipline that is needed to reach your business goals. Starting each morning by conquering a task that targets self improvement automatically sets up the rest of your day to follow suit. Dedication in one area of your life leads to dedication in the remaining areas. For Patrick and Amber, prioritizing health through fitness is just as important as putting in the work to become accomplished entrepreneurs. Consequently, they make time for both.

They enjoy staying fit by working out regularly. Kickboxing, tennis, basketball and jogging are a few of their favorite ways to stay in shape. They also are conscious about making healthy food choices by setting aside time to meal prep properly. However, physical fitness isn’t their only focus, mental health is part of their daily agenda, too. The couple starts the day by praying, verbalizing affirmations and reading positive literature. They remind themselves that they have purpose and are called to continually strive for something bigger, and they surround themselves with people who believe the same. By beginning the day with both physical and mental nourishment, Pat and Amber feel refreshed and ready to conquer whatever the day may bring.

The Nolans emphasize the importance of health because your overall well being contributes to both the physical building of your company, as well as your ability to mentally devote full focus to the undertaking of entrepreneurship. It impossible to give your all if you have nothing to give. Illness, lack of energy, and self-defeating thoughts only serve to hinder progress, when the goal is to win. Therefore, to win at life, you must first train to succeed.
